Il capodelegazione del Partito democratico, Nicola Zingaretti, ha sottolineato come la vittoria di Trump è l’affermazione di un sentimento di “solitudine senza speranza” che “diventata rabbia e questa rabbia è stata cavalcata e rappresentata. Non ho letto soluzioni, ma solo indicazioni di nemici: è servito. Ora sta all’Europa capire che occorre un coraggioso cambiamento. Investimenti strategici e un salto in avanti nel processo di integrazione e nella costruzione di una vera dimensione politica e federale”

“È questa la sfida europeista davanti a noi”, ha scritto Zingaretti. “Lottare per un’Europa più forte, più vicina alle persone, che costruisca giustizia e susciti nuova speranza. Difendere la democrazia significa non limitarsi a citare ma difendere i valori europei e davvero attuare la nostra Costituzione”.

L’istituto Leibniz per la ricerca economica mette in luce la crescita preoccupante del fenomeno nell’ultimo mese, quando 1.530 società hanno dichiarato fallimento, il dato più alto relativo a questo mese registrato negli ultimi 20 anni. Russian, Indonesian Navies to Hold First Ever Joint Exercises 'Orruda 2024'

SURABAYA (Sputnik) - The navies of Russia and Indonesia will hold the first ever joint exercises codenamed "Orruda 2024," they will be held in the port of the Indonesian city of Surabaya and the Java Sea.

First Time Ever

In August, it was announced that the Navy of Indonesia and the Russian Navy would conduct bilateral exercises in Surabaya, the province of East Java. The exercises were called "Orruda 2024." They will last from November 4 to 8.

These will be the first bilateral exercises of Indonesian and Russian navies since Indonesia gained independence from Dutch colonial rule 79 years ago.

Two Birds

The codename of the exercises is of unusual origin — it consists of the names of two birds: the Russian eagle and the Indonesian mythical bird of Garuda, the embodiment of strength and courage. Thus, the composite name "Orruda" reflects the intention of the countries to conduct the drills "wing to the wing."

Pacific Fleet Arrival

On Sunday, a detachment of ships of the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Navy made a friendly entry to the port of Tanjung Perak in Surabaya. The detachment included the corvettes Gromkiy, Rezkiy, Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov and support ship Pechenga.

Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Sergey Tolchenov took part in the ceremony of the meeting of ships in Surabaya. Russian ships were welcomed by representatives of the command of the Indonesian Navy, and local dancers performed a traditional dance.

"Orruda 2024" will include port and naval stages in Surabaya and the Java Sea. The ambassador stressed the exercises are a routine event for partner nations, not aimed at any third party. Despite this, observers are expected to monitor the exercises closely.

Commenting on this, commander of the ships of the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Navy Alexey Antsiferov noted these drills would show Russia's readiness to assist Indonesia and expressed hope that they would become annual and grow in scale.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier said on Thursday he would be ready to call a snap election if Chancellor Olaf Scholz fails a vote of no confidence in the Bundestag.

"If the Bundestag deprives the chancellor of confidence in line with Article 68 of the Basic Law, I am ready to accept this decision. Our constitution outlines the specific circumstances for such a decision, but our country needs a sustainable majority and a government capable of functioning. This will be my criterion," Steinmeier said in a press address.

He said the mere fact of initiating the vote of no confidence will enable a snap election, even though there has rarely been a minority government in parliament during Germany's entire 75-year modern history.

The president also confirmed that he would grant Scholz's request for the dismissal of Lindner and two other Free Democrat ministers.

"The end of the coalition is not the end of the world. It is a political crisis that we must and will overcome. The Basic Law has clear provisions in this regard," he added.

Late on Wednesday, Scholz announced that he had he asked the president for the dismissal of Finance Minister Christian Lindner amid a possible collapse of the ruling coalition over disagreements on the 2025 state budget, including the amount of the Ukraine aid. The chancellor said he would request a vote of confidence from parliament in early 2025 for a snap election to take place in March, but the opposition demanded that it take place as early as next week.

Budget disagreements in Germany's traffic-light coalition have continued since last year. Lindner, the leader of the Free Democratic Party, has accused Scholz of a lack of ambition, specifically due to his push to suspend the so-called debt brake rule, which is a constitutionally enshrined cap on new government borrowing. Last year, the budget crisis triggered mass protests of farmers around the country.

MILAN (AP) — Italy has opened an administrative procedure against China’s Sinochem, the largest shareholder in Italian tiremaker Pirelli, for a possible breach of restrictions designed to protect national strategic assets.

Pirelli announced Wednesday that the procedure was launched under the so-called “golden power” provisions, which include restrictions to the access of some information and higher vote thresholds for strategic decisions, invoked by the Rome government in mid-2023.

Pirelli said Sinochem, which controls a 37% stake in the company, has denied any violations of the restrictions, adding the Italian government had 120 days to issue a finding.

In announcing the golden power provision, the government cited the sensitivity of sensors implanted in tires that can collect data such as road layouts, geolocation and the state of infrastructure, making it of a "critical technology of national strategic importance.”

The tiremaker’s second-largest investor is Camfin, the investment vehicle of Pirelli’s former CEO and current executive vice-chairman Marco Tronchetti Provera, which holds a 32.4% stake.
