'Resign!' Ursula von der Leyen's 'disgraceful' attempt to boast 'Team Europe' backfires

The Commission President posted on her Twitter account a message of praise for "Team Europe" over the bloc's handling of the coronavirus pandemic. She wrote: "As #TeamEurope, we work with partners around the globe to cushion the impact of the pandemic and initiate a sustainable recovery.

"We need to be better prepared to address future health crises, together. The work starts now."

But the message soon backfired as Twitter users were quick to lambast the EU chief calling on her to resign over her failures.

One user wrote: "Focus on vaccinating EU residents, you are far behind!!"

And another: "Hurry up and get the vaccines out faster!"

And another: "'The work starts now.' What did you do the last 12 months?"

Several people called for Ms von der Leyen to step down.

One said: "You have exacerbated the problem in the EU. It is disgraceful that you mock Europeans by claiming catastrophic failure as victory. Resign."

Another echoed: "What Team Europe are you talking about? Go home, everything you do turns into a calamity."

And another: "It’s great that you’re having fun. Hey, about that vaccine order you messed up: why do you still have a job?"

One user added: "EU shown its colours. It would rather play political games with Oxford AstraZeneca causing higher deaths than admit how disastrously you handle a pandemic.

"660,000 lives lost in EU countries is a disgrace. You have their deaths on your hands however you try and sound in control."

Someone else called for the EU to be scrapped altogether.

Il ministro degli Esteri è pronto a volare in Usa. A quanto si apprende dalla Farnesina, Luigi Di Maio lunedì 12 aprile e martedì 13 andrà a Washington per una visita ufficiale, la prima di un ministro straniero alla nuova amministrazione guidata dal presidente Joe Biden. Di Maio incontrerà il segretario di Stato americano, Anthony Blinken, una riunione in cui il grillino vuole, come sottolinea in tweet "riaffermare la forte amicizia tra Italia e Stati Uniti".

Tra i vari appuntamenti in programma, è previsto anche un colloquio ufficiale del ministro degli Esteri con la speaker della Camera dei Rappresentati, Nancy Pelosi. Inoltre, il ministro degli Esteri parteciperà ad un evento celebrativo dei 160 anni delle relazioni diplomatiche tra Italia e Stati Uniti.

Sentinelli, Arci, Casa Comune e Medicina Solidale hanno organizzato il presidio sotto Palazzo Lombardia: anziani e persone fragili tra i presenti che contestano la gestione della pandemia

"Per dire a Fontana di andarsene. Per dire che in Lombardia è andato tutto male" i Sentinelli, insieme ad Arci, Medicina Solidale e Casa Comune hanno organizzato una pentolada di protesta sotto Palazzo Lombardia. Ai partecipanti hanno infatti chiesto di presentarsi con pentole e padelle, coperchi e mestoli per far sentire in questo modo la loro voce. 'Gestione inadeguata, sanità commissariata' è uno degli striscioni che hanno portato i partecipanti alla manifestazione, che scandiscono con pentole e mestoli appunto i discorsi di chi interviene al microfono denunciando il "disastro" del sistema di prenotazione di Aria, come ha sottolineato il presidente di Arci Milano Maso Notarianni.

"Una cosa ci indigna più di tutte: 31 mila morti e non hanno mai detto una volta 'scusa', mai" ha aggiunto Luca Paladini chiedendo a nome dei Sentinelli che "Fontana e la sua giunta diano le dimissioni". Tra i presenti anche un uomo, un paziente fragile, che scoppia a piangere perché non è ancora stato vaccinato: "I medici dicono che se prendo il Covid ho il 70-80% di probabilità di morire, sono un cadavere che cammina". In piazza anche l'europarlamentare Pd ed ex assessore al Comune di Milano Pierfrancesco Maljorino: "La pandemia - dice - ha sconvolto tutti nel mondo, ma in Lombardia c'è stato un di più, che è stata la responsabilità di Fontana, Letizia Moratti e Bertolaso".

Daniel Kawczynski has predicted Mr Putin’s defence minister, Sergei Lavrov, will humiliate Mrs Merkel’s representatives on the subject at the first opportunity - just as he did with EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell earlier this year. Videos widely circulated on social media have shown large numbers of tanks and other materiel on roads close to Ukraine’s eastern border, as well as other clips showing equipment headed for Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014.

Mrs Merkel voiced her concerns during a telephone conversation with Mr Putin yesterday.

However, Mr Kawczynski, MP for Shrewsbury and Atcham, suggested the planned construction of the gas pipeline, running under the Baltic Sea from Russia to Germany, inevitably reduced the impact of anything Germany’s Chancellor might have had to say.

Mr Kawczynski, who was born in neighbouring Poland, told Express.co.uk: "Merkel’s warm words are meaningless when Germany under her leadership is prepared to endanger the security of fellow NATO partners by selfishly building this pipeline directly to Russia.

"Germany continues to lobby America strenuously to lift the threat of sanctions against this project.

"Those are the actions of an unreliable NATO partner.”

Mr Kawczysnki suggested neither allies nor adversaries would be fooled.

He declared: "Germany cannot possibly expect to be taken seriously by Russia given they remain fully committed to Nord Stream 2.

"In fact, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov would doubtless say precisely that to whichever German Government representative delivers the message to him, making little attempt to disguise his scorn as he did so.

Baba Vanga's followers believe the Bulgarian mystic predicted before her death in 1996 many world-changing events such as the rise of ISIS and the September 11, 2001, terror attack on New York. Baba Vanga was born Vangeliya Pandeva Gushterova in northern Macedonia in 1911, though she spent most of her life living in Bulgaria. During her life, she gained notoriety due to her supposed powers of foresight and ability to contact the dead.

According to reports from her childhood, she traded her physical vision for the ability to see the future after being confronted by an angel.

In The Weiser Field Guide to the Paranormal, author Judith Joyce said people would reach out to Vanga to learn more about their future.

The book reads: "Baba Vanga never wrote any books, but many books have been written about her, her abilities, and her prophecies.

"She claimed to receive information from invisible beings and said that, if someone stood before her, she could see the person's life as if it were a movie, from beginning to end.

"Baba Vanga asked visitors to give her a sugar cube, which she then used as a crystal to focus energy and receive information."

Her reputation is even said to have caught the attention of Communist leaders with rumours of Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev himself consulting the medium on more than one occasion.
