'EU is finished!' German MEP says Berlin must urgently leave 'anti-democratic' bloc

THE EU has been labelled an "anti-democratic" organisation to its core by a German MEP, who revealed three reasons why Berlin must leave the bloc.

EU has ‘failed’ on handling of pandemic says Gunnar Beck

Such is his hatred for the bloc under Ursula von der Leyen, MEP Gunnar Beck warned Germany needs Dexit as the "EU is finished financially" following the coronavirus pandemic. With Germany being the powerhouse of the bloc, Mr Beck warned the state can no longer be part of the crumbling EU project. While the EU has insisted member states remain unified in prolonging the project's future, Mr Beck claimed leaving the bloc is now a "necessity" for Germany.

In a scathing attack, he warned the undemocratic nature of the bloc, the instability of the euro and the threat of rising inflation are all reasons for why Germany must leave.

Mr Beck said: "We consider Germany's exit from the European Union and the founding of a new European economic and interest group to be necessary.

"There are many arguments in favour of Germany leaving the EU.

"The EU is anti-democratic at its core.

"Many other international organisations are too, but no other organisation enjoys such excessive power as the EU does.

"The euro is a currency that has had to be saved every year since 2010 with more than 100 billion.

"These costs are already tangible for savers because they do not get any profits anymore and are thereby insidiously dispossessed. The taxpayers will get to experience all this still."

In support of his argument for leaving the bloc, the MEP stated the euro has been bailed out every year since 2010 and also warned inflation will rise dramatically in the bloc.

If inflation rises, the gap between the rich northern states and poor southern countries will become even greater, and therefore, cause splits within the EU, he claimed.

He added: "The EU is finished financially, it destroys our social state by overwhelming it and by de-Europeanising Europe.

"This is exactly why the Dexit or Gexit resolution of the AfD is correct and the profession for further close cooperation with those of our neighbours who are still of sound mind is just as important.

"We have to emphasise that Europe only has a future if we save Europe from the EU."

Anti-EU feeling has risen over the last few months due to the bloc's failed vaccine programme and clashes with the UK over Brexit.

States such as Hungary and the Czech Republic have been forced to use the Chinese and Russian vaccines due to the poor rollout.

Neither the Sputnik V nor Sinopharm vaccines have been approved by the European Medicines Agency but due to the high case levels in both countries, they were forced to use the shots.

The UK has been praised for its own vaccine rollout, with some concluding Brexit aided Britain in being able to avoid the chaos which has struck the continent.

Indeed, speaking to Express.co.uk, Swedish MEP Charlie Weimers said public opinion is now changing over the future of the European project.

Commenting on his own state, he claimed Sweden has not lost a powerful ally in the EU following the UK's departure.

With France gaining even more power, he claimed Brexit may soon pave the way for further departures.

He said: "I think this will pave the way for a reaction and we have already seen it to a certain extent, that this change in public opinion on EU membership is now going in the opposite direction to most of the other member states.

“Yeah, I mean, we're not talking about an earthquake.

"But it’s the trajectory that is interesting here and it's going against the trend.

“And I think it's because more and more Swedes realise that the design of the EU is not in the interest of Swedish taxes.

“So when the chicken comes home to roost, that’s when the real reaction will come.

“Maybe we’re talking about a few years ahead but it will come eventually.”

Oh and one more thing. The EU isnt Bankrupt. Germany is not picking up the tabs. The cash flow goes straight back into the industry. When Greece was bailed out with their debts, the truth is that the banks that gave them loans were bailed out, which was a big relief for London. But that doesn’t sell well. Also the UK has massive debts themselves and Brexit did not help at all. Where are the Millions of savings that Boris promised?

Hello guys. I am from Germany and I really can’t help but laugh at the spin the express is giving on news regarding the EU. No one in Germany is panicking or „furious“. The guy named in the interview became famous because he faked his professor title. Also he is far right, you know...the guys you guys fought in WW2, yeah he is one of those. Of course we are regularly bailing out the Euro. Stabilizing ones currency is a normal procedure and UK is doing the same, nothing special here. This really is a poor newspaper, very poor journalism with an agenda that is set even before an article is written. So yeah. Good luck in the EC.

If anybody but Germany takes on any of the eye-watering debts, Target2 will have to reimburse them, at the expense of Germany.

The whole Euro system is a basket case, and has been almost since it's inception. The debt is growing, and Germany is picking up the tab, and it is going to get worse. It was always going to be thus, but the pandemic is bringing it on much quicker. The EU is using the situation to gain more financial control, and build up funds, which is serving to exacerbate an already serious and inevitable outcome

The SNP still want to join this wonderful club, as once you join you cannot leave. Of course the EU want Scotland to join, the more countries to pay the euro debt the better.

Who in hell the DE found this one, really, okay okay AfD of course.

World War 3: China and US could be set for major military conflict in Africa - experts

AFRICA could be a potential site for a land war between China and the US in the near future, experts have warned.

Beijing is seeking to extend its influence in Africa through both economic and military means, as it continues to project its power around the world. The People's Republic established its first military base in Doraleh, Djibouti on Africa's eastern coast back in 2017. The move caused considerable alarm among US military officials, as the new base was located just eight miles from a US military facility.

Control of Djibouti's eastern coast would allow any major power to potentially control access to the Suez Canal, a vital shipping route.

Professor Gerald Horne, from the University of Houston, told The Sun Online: "Certainly, the signs of impending conflict between China and the US are worrisome, especially as suggested in the recent novel by NATO former leader, James Stavridis.

"Since Djibouti contains bases of both China and the US (and others) it is likely the flashpoint."

However, China's military ambitions are not confined to this small eastern African state.

US General Stephen Townsend warned that Beijing is now looking to extend its military presence to Africa's Atlantic coast.

In an interview with the Associated Press on Thursday, he said that China wanted to set up a large navy port capable of hosting submarines or aircraft carriers on Africa's western coast.

He explained: "They're looking for a place where they can rearm and repair warships.

"That becomes militarily useful in conflict.

South China Sea: Shandong aircraft carrier ‘battle ready’, Beijing declares amid tensions

BEIJING's Shandong aircraft carrier has completed its first publicly known military drill in the South China Sea, China's defence ministry has said.

The Shandong is the PLA Navy’s second aircraft carrier after the Liaoning which is currently operating elsewhere in the South China Sea. According to Gao Xiucheng, a spokesman for the Chinese navy, the latest exercise involved communications, manoeuvres, coordination and field training.

Mr Gao said on May 2 that the exercises were “legitimate and can enhance Chinese capabilities to protect national sovereignty, security, and development interest."

He added: “We hope the outside world can view [the Shandong’s exercise] objectively and rationally.

“The PLA Navy will continue to organize similar exercises according to the plan regularly in the future.”

The vessel was commissioned in December 2019 by Chinese president Xi Jinping and got operational clearance in October last year.

The PLA ship is capable of carrying a fleet of Shenyang J-15 warplanes equipped with more weapons and fuel than the F/A-18 Super Hornets used on US Navy aircraft carriers.

The Shandong’s military drills come as tensions between Beijing and Washington escalate over South China Sea issues.

Last month, the US Navy released a photo taken from the deck of the USS Mustin showing Naval officers watching over the Liaoning from a very short distance.

Following this, China criticised the US for “destabilising” the region after the Liaoning warned away the USS Mustin.

On the same day as the Chinese warning, US President Joe Biden told Congress that the competition with China would be a litmus test and promised to maintain America’s technological advantage of China.

China’s other aircraft carrier group led by the Liaoning also recently completed military drills and training around Taiwan, Wu Qian, a spokesman at China’s ministry of national defence said on Thursday.

An anonymous expert told PLA mouthpiece Global Times that the deployment of the Shandong and the Liaoning would allow China to deploy warships more often. He noted that while one ship undergoes maintenance the other can take its place.

Also speaking to Global Times, analysts confirmed that the recent military drills by the Liaoning and the Shandong show China’s carriers are actively training for “combat preparedness” to face down any threats.
