Dr. Fauci suggests vaccinated people might want to wear masks again

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the White House medical adviser on the novel coronavirus, recently suggested that fully vaccinated people may want to wear face masks indoors again as a precaution against the highly-transmissible delta variant.
- “If you want to go the extra mile of safety even though you’re vaccinated when you’re indoors, particularly in crowded places, you might want to consider wearing a mask,” Fauci told CNBC.
Fauci, like other experts have done, said fully vaccinated people may want to consider masks in high-risk areas.
- “It’s suggested that you wear a mask when you are indoors in a situation where you have a level of dynamics of virus in the community that’s high,” Fauci said.
Will mask mandates return?
There are a number of experts who are calling for mask mandates to return as the highly transmissible delta variant continues to surge its way through the country.
Former Surgeon General Jerome Adams told WISH-TV that mask mandates may be needed to keep people safe.
- “We need to prepare the public for what could be, again, a return to some of these mitigation measures,” he said.
Kimberly Prather, a professor at the University of California at San Diego, told The Washington Post that she supports indoor mask mandates.
- “The best protection everybody has is masks,” she said.
